A professional, well-written CV / resume is vital when applying for a Social Worker position.  The sample Social Worker CV / resume below illustrates what should be included in your Social Worker CV / resume.

What format should you use for your Social Worker CV / Resume?

As with any CV or resume, the first thing you should do is decide how you are going to use your CV / resume.  Are you going to target a specific role?  If so then you should use a targeted CV / resume format that you can tailor your Social Worker CV to for post for which you are applying.

If you are using a speculative approach and sending out your Social Worker CV / resume to various prospective employers a chronological CV / resume layout may be more suitable.  When using a chronological CV or resume format you should provide at least 10 years employment history.

In most circumstances  a 2 page CV / resume is recommended.  However, that often means being very selective with information and omitting some duties.  If you are applying for more senior Social Worker roles where you may be asked to attend 2 or 3 interviews or for very specialized roles it is a good idea to also have a more in-depth Social Worker CV or resume that enables you to fully demonstrate your skills, qualities, experience and achievements.
