Skills and qualities to be highlighted on your Live in Carer CV / resume

As a live in Carer or live in Care Assistant you’ll live with your client, giving them as much help and care as they need while enabling them to live as independently as possible.

Your live in Carer CV will need to highlight qualities that show you are caring, patient, understanding, friendly and physically fit.  Include action words which show that in your personal profile and reinforce this by giving examples in the key skills section and also under duties in the Employment Summary section of your CV / resume.

Skills and experience that you should highlight include:

    • Knowledge of treatment and Care plans
    • Verbal and written communication skills
    • Medical or relevant training

    • Teamworking
    • Experience and use of hoists, overhead tracking equipment etc.

It is also important to remember that as a live in carer you may be required to work unsociable hours, deal with difficult situations and work with troubled people who may be abusive or abuse themselves.

Most importantly, as a live in carer, you are there to offer your client companionship, so they have stimulation, someone to talk to or just the knowledge that you are there.
