Mark Twain was the pen name of Samuel Langhorne Clemens an American writer, humourist, lecturer and entrepreneur.

He was primarily known for his successful novels The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn which were set around Mississippi in the late 1800s.

Twain made a great deal of money from his books and lectures.  He was also a believer of new inventions and technology (he was a friend of Nikola Tesla) and invested in ventures that lost most of it and led him into bankruptcy – which he cleared by repaying all his creditors.
